Memorial Day, observed on May 26, 2025, honors U.S. military personnel who died in service. Here are ways to observe it meaningfully:
- Attend Local Events: Participate in Memorial Day parades, ceremonies, or services at veterans’ cemeteries or memorials. Check local listings for events near you.
- National Moment of Remembrance: Pause at 3:00 p.m. local time for a moment of silence to reflect on the sacrifices of fallen service members.
- Display the Flag: Raise the U.S. flag to half-staff until noon, then to full staff. Place small flags at gravesites or memorials to honor the fallen.
- Visit Memorials: Pay respects at sites like national or local veterans’ cemeteries, or monuments such as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
- Support Military Causes: Donate to or volunteer with organizations like the VFW, American Legion, or Gold Star Families to support veterans and their families.
- Reflect and Learn: Read about military history, share stories of fallen heroes, or watch documentaries to deepen your understanding of their sacrifices.
- Community Service: Join efforts like cleaning veterans’ memorials, organizing remembrance events, or assisting military families in your community.

RV-6A first flight
After 30 years of building (yes, 30 years), N921CR finally flew on April 30. Here is my RV grin. 16000 Rivets is a short video (the real-time video was too large to upload) about my project. You Gotta Build It Yourself is my attempt at an RV rap.

Wheel pants & gear fairing pro tips (that I stole)
I put off finishing the undercarriage fairings on my RV for too long, but I finally have them done. The last time I built a set of these was almost 20 years ago (how time flies!). The process was easier this time around, thanks in large part to a series of hints and tricks I picked up in the...

I have two factory built RV12s the the 912ULS engine. One engine has about 900 hours on it. The other has close to 1600. On the last inspection I found a crack on the 900 hour engine mount. It was on the left side tube just below the upper engine support arm. Its difficult to tell from the...

Vernier control cable issue
The vernier mixture control on my -7 is acting funny. Have it disconnected and noticed the steel tube below the angle joint is out of its socket. (Rubber boot is being replaced) I thick the tube in, and nothing holding it in. Is there a clip missing? How is that that held in place? Thanks.

High oil temp on relatively new engine
I am helping a friend with his new RV14 that has a really high oil temp and I am wondering what sort of things could play a role. Here is the circumstance, the engine will get to 220F range in about 10-15 minute run on the ground, they saw a 235F at the runup and thought it would cool down if...

140 CHT spread? Or bad info?
Hi All. The other day i notice this 140 degree spread in cruise between my only two CHT guages on cyl 3 and 4. As you can see, #4 indicated about 420 degrees and #3 about 280. This was very concerning, so when back in the hangar, I pulled the cowl right away, with the engine still...

Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
