If I had known then what I know now….
I thought it might be helpful to reflect on things I would have done differently when I first got my RV-15 wing kit two months ago if I had known how things would progress. First, prep, prep, prep. The removal of blue plastic cover, deburring of edges, checking all and deburring some holes...

GAP26 AOA Probe
I'm fitting A Garmin GAP AOA and have a couple of questions. 1. What type of fitting do you use to change from the aluminium tube to the plastic tube, note this fitting needs to pass through the standard pitot tube mount. 2. The power wires are very short so how have you connected them and...

Had this heater manifold welded and got it installed, as another owner said his backseat passenger suggested it would be nice to have heat on both sides, not just one side. Tested it with a blow drier and I think itis going to work very nice. Summer time I can bypass the exhaust heat exchange and have addition fresh air flow.

Elevator pitch trim harness
I am confused about these instructions on page 9-25 (RV-14): It says to "Use silicone to seal the end of the trimmed molex connector" and to "Cover the pins of the molex connector". This must mean the backside of the connector, where the wires go into it. To keep out moisture, dust, etc...

Cowl Fit
I'm still slogging through the cowl fit on my 9A. I fit the bottom cowl sides and curve at the bottom of the fuselage as best as I could, but the shape of the cowl just doesn't fit the fuselage all that well. The bottom portion of the cowl has a bit of a wave in it and takes pretty significant...

I think the lack of replies on this one is because there’s no real fast easy fix. I did have a twist in mine and I drilled out most of the pulled rivets and got it back to where I wanted it. You could try that But it’s hard to tell if your issue is from a twist. How does the rest of the canopy line up? This is going to be one of the more challenging pieces in the build because it has to align with four different structures. Roll bar, sides and the forward section. The three options that come to mind is start backtracking (drilling out rivets) and see if you can get it back to where it’s acceptable. Drill out a bit, fit it and so on. As mentioned above. Keep everything as true and square as possible. Second would be to salvage as much as possible and order new parts. Third would be to leave it and have the painter fair in that area. Hard from the picture to know if that’s a reasonable solution. Good luck. Perfection is the enemy of excellence
Canopy Frame
I completed my canopy frame and finally got the chance to put it on the plane to check the fitment. The pilot side fits great but the copilot side not so much. Ant ideas on how to correct this?

“This was an incredible and rewarding journey. It’s one that’s story is truly just begging. I spent nearly eight years building this aircraft and to finally have my first flight was an overwhelming experience. I had many ups and downs over the years and to finally have my first flight was a...
