Ok, this is my first post on VAF. I’ve read through countless pages of prior forums and decided I need to seek more information from people much more informed then my self. Here’s the problem, recently installed an o320 A1A (overhauled) and have had two big issues. Issue #1 first flight the throttle worked fine until I pulled power at altitude and I could never get it back resulting in an “uneventful” on airport landing. Post flight with cowling off showed all linkages in tact and I did not feel a difference in flight trying to move it….felt fine. #2 the engine seems to run extremely rich. Like black smoke at static RPM rich (I am at sea level) DA here in the south can get high but this seems excessive. I have to lean very agressiey to get a smooth engine. Mag drop is 300 on the slick 200 on the P-Mag when it’s rough. Then completely normal when it’s leaned. The carb is a Marvel Shraeder 10-3678-12 (matches with what lycoming calls for). It was overhauled in 2024 and has sat unused since now. Idle mixture has been adjusted and is fine. What in the heck is going on!!!!!! No leaks found and everything is sturdy on the outside. Thank you all for your time

The spousal unit is doing a thing for her yoga for cancer patients group (www.YogaBridge.org) this weekend at a local spot, and three of her lifelong friends drove/flew into town for it. I offered to go sleep out at the hangar so they could have the house, and do whatever it is women of this...

Filling Pop Rivet Mandrel Holes Before Paint
This is how you take your build to the next level. If you don't have a pop-riveted kit you should probably click the back button now. If you've ever looked closely at a Sling TSi built by Midwest SkySports you will notice that they fill EVERY pop rivet mandrel hole before they paint the plane...

OP-43 Access Kit
Any opinions about the value of this kit for easing access to the back of the panel? My panel is coming from Stein with two G3X's etc. I'm assuming there will be a lot of remote boxes and accessories to mount. All in put welcome. Is it worth the labor?

Elevator Trim Tab Skin
Hello All, Working on my RV-14's elevator trim tab. I'm posting in the General Discussion forum because I'm not sure if the issue I'm having overs other RV models. The leading edge of the top and bottom trim tab skins (.016") are joined by a Z-channel spar (Part #E-01405). The bottom skin is...

Joggle Fun
I’m finally in the process of riveting the fuselage together after months of prep. When I riveted the forward auxiliary longeron, the one between the center section and the firewall, the skin deformed pretty considerably at the joggle. It didn’t look bad until I riveted it. 🤦🏼♂️ I put a ruler...

Meditations on a Grounded RV
I. Teardown What does it mean to savor the fast, fleeting, and final hours on the tach before the engine goes idle and the last puffs of burnt fuel begin to fizzle into a wide and far-reaching silence? What sense does one have of eternity when, with a single glimpse, there is captured high...

Range of Motion for Aileron Bellcrank
Good Morning. I'm working on the internal of the left wing including the aileron bellcrank and pitot tube air lines and heating wiring. I fabricated a bracket to hold the pitot tube and heating wiring at the bellcrank so it can't inadvertently touch the bellcrank during flight. It looks and...

Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
