Bravo, sir. Bravo!
I use discarded plastic medicine bottles. Each has a label of where on the aircraft the screws came from. Prior to reinstalling the screws, I look at each one and decide if it needs to be replaced with a new one.

8-32 by 1/2 on the brackets, typically 6-32 100 deg on the shell half's but that depends on nutplates used. Torx, hex or No 2 Phillips. Is that what your question is? Also, your plans from Vans Aircraft should specify.

What do you do with inspection panel screws during annual?
Looking for techniques in keeping fasteners... Tackle box? Draw string bags? Zip lock? I was using label tackle box, but I'm thinking about switching to draw string parts bags

F1 Initial Cowl Fitting - Looks good!
Spent this afternoon doing the initial fit of the F1 cowling - remember that this is a 20+ year old kit/cowling…and it fits pretty well with minimal trimming! Of course, there is lots of fine tuning to do, and the rear has to be trimmed to fit…. I decided to go with the 2” naval cannon option...

WD-409 tailspring mount F up…
While drilling the tailspring mount to F-711 I didn’t realize it had shifted after punching through the first hole and now they don’t line up at all. Vans is back ordered with an ETA of 2/28/26… What do folks think of having the holes welded closed and trying again? Would there be strength...

These doors may be the death of me…
The doors are killing me. It doesn’t help that I’ve added the PlaneAround center cam and the Aerosport low profile handles, but it’s some of the stock things that are frustrating me. Do nutplates really work in the reverse? The instructions show assembly of the latch mechanism plates. The...

Hardwired USB power suggestions?
My panel currently has a 12V "cigar lighter" socket, in which I've been using a plug-in USB adapter to charge my phone. Since the old-school socket is pretty much obsolete these days, I'd like to change this out for a dedicated, hardwired USB receptacle. I'd ideally like to find one that fits in...

Panel planning
I'm at that stage where I am ready to start planning my panel. I know all the pros/cons, reading through pages here on the different manufacturers of EFISs, and I don't want to start another Garmin/Dynon/GRT, whose best thread, but I am curious about what you particularly like about whatever...

RV-8 Shoulder Harness Retainer
So, no big deal but I have held my shoulder harness straps with 3 zip ties each (2 around the roll bar and 1 across the 2) since I built it. they restrict the shoulder harness a little and I just thought there would be a better way. I 3D printed 2 of these. My printer isn't the best but you get...

VAF Charity Cap: Help your charity and promote this site.
Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
