Just needed gas. Been two weeks since my last RV flight. 52F->KXBP->16X->52F. I thought the morning’s high point was when I saw they had a new pump, hose, hose reel, handle and grounding wire. How often do you see new?

Return flight eastbound via 16X with VNAV armed and TPA selected. Automation practice.

Descending called 3 out when I hear an N-number I know about to launch. Plaster! “You want some wing time?” Yep. Dogleg descending turn over to the east side paralleling the runway as Gary got airborne, timing my left turn so I’d end up where he needed me to be for the join. Head math is fun! He did this professionally in F-4s back in the day. His normal climbing left turn got him aboard. Some lefts and rights, “do what you want to practice while I do gentle turns - let me know when you’re done”. Things you do when you’ve been flying with someone 20+ years. Picture for proof, a see ya! from him as he was off to something, strobes back ON and a turn back to the USS Aero Valley for me.

Good break, correct energy at the step, high in the groove and touchdown 25 feet beyond what I wanted. Things they don't teach in Baylor's Hankamer School of Business. I'll work on it.

Mental gyros realigned for a bit.
The unexpected, happy change of plans that really is more common in this community than you’d think.
Gas run turned fun. Motivation to those still building 101.

Amazingly capable airplane, mostly dialed in. Need to love up the tailwheel - the key is dirty/worn and it's breaking loose earlier than I'd like.
Have a nice Wednesday.

PS: job3 called on the drive home. Multiple sims lined up. They found me. ;^)

Question for -12Is builders
I can't find anywhere that this fuel tank pad, F-01204N, is addressed outside of the diagram. My question is how it is attached to the bulkhead. I know it will be with countersunk fasteners. Rivets or screws? The channel is thick enough for threading.

RV-8 Panel decisions..
Howdy all, Trying to make the final purchase on my avionics. I have friends who say get 1 G3X and 1 GTN750. I have others that say get 2 G3X and a GTN650. Both will fit, both are about the same cost. GTN750 requires a G5, twin G3X requires a battery back-up and AHRS. I need an IFR capable...

Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
