Slick Workbench/Table

Cool! Thanks!
If you've already built a couple EAA tables, wouldn't be too hard to add the hinges, which is his main feature. I like to have about an inch and a half overhang on the tops, all around, for clamping, in which case, you'd need some spacer blocks for the hinges to join up correctly. But frankly, if you need to do a temporary join up of a couple equal height benches, a temporary clamp up , or even screws, should work just fine. Your call

That could be a nice setup for wood working, but I can’t think of many scenarios so far where I would have really used it for the RV. I built two tables the same height. 99% of the time they are butted up against each other and never move. Once in a blue moon I’ll change the orientation to go from a wide, shorter table to a thinner, long combo, but it’s rare. I prefer the solid legs on the floor to help with all of the pounding that happens too. I have wheels on one end of each bench that are on hinged 2x4s and drop down and lock when the table is picked up.

If I had a huge shop, then I might feel different I suppose. I just don’t have space to be flipping huge tables around. With big heavy tables, I’ve never found a need to actually attach them together either. Nothing negative about the design. I just think the utility might not match the typical RV work.

My tables were close to the EAA tables in size. I attached them together with a shelf to make 1 long table. The little mini shelf between is made to accept my drtd dimpler flush between the 2. I ordered some casters that have adjustable height pads. The tables can be leveled and are very solid when the pads are down. I put a tool shelf just under the top of one, great for setting a drill or cleco pliers on. And if you don’t use a nice piece of wood for the top you won’t be afraid to drill through it or screw something to it. Mine have had all sorts of things attached, like the cradles for my fuel tanks, or braces to clamp my wing spars to in all sorts of orientations.
