Look fwd to meeting n seeing itNice canopy! I was at LZU for about 8 months. The box hangar I was in the county was threatening not to renew the lease. After trying to reach out to the airport manager, which was fruitless, for a solution that wouldn't put five aircraft on the ramp I packed up and moved to Athens. Not ideal, but I'm not outside until I can source a hanger that is closer.

I saw that plane when she went up for sale. I soooo wanted to buy but my aircraft partner wanted an A. I knew it wouldn’t last long. Thanks Steve! Definitely blessed! Probably won't be able to get the 25 hrs done by then with the lousy winter weather we have been having. Waited almost a month after the paperwork for a nice enough day for the first flight!Al,
Congratulations! If She flys as beautiful as she looks, you are a blessed man. Hope to see you at Sun-N-Fun.
Steve

Mark,First flight!
N705JM flew on 29 April after almost two decades of building. Thanks to my friends and family (and Vansairforce) for all the support.
First flight went well. Heavy left wing (resolved with shifting/slotting left aileron down 1/16”). Rear canopy vibration (resolved with expandable foam weatherstripping). Flaps only go to 1/2 travel (Hopefully PH Aviation gets new motor soon).
10 hours so far and getting good numbers of about 178 KTAS at 3k (25 squared) with my SDS EFII IOX-370. Solid running and starting engine by SDS! Thanks Ross and Barry!
For those in my situation who haven’t flown a tailwheel before. I did 5 hours in a super cruiser to get an endorsement. Then 5 hours in an RV-7. Never had flown in an -8. The -8 flew pretty much exactly like the -7 (same tail wheel and linkage). My 8 will wheel or 3 point. No weird vibrations on landing. I had considered some of the transition folks but decided against it after speaking to them and others who went to them. Of course insurance was expensive for the first year ($4500) due to limited hours. This is my experience and not a recommendation for your unique situation.
Can’t wait to finish phase 1!
Thanks,
Mark
