D Drippy Well Known Member Sep 8, 2016 #1 OK not thinking things through and being a first time builder I put the prop on to fit the cowling ect and didn't install the alternator belt first. I just don't see a way around taking the prop off but figured I would ask. Thanks

That's one reason why most folks simulate the prop when fitting the cowl.

D Drippy Well Known Member Sep 8, 2016 #3 Now you tell me I figured - was thinking about doing the light speed ignition system which I believe requires some prop work for a sensor maybe I get do them at the sametime. Thanks

There is an option, and that is to use a B and C alternator mounted at the vacuum pad. http://www.bandc.aero/lycoming-gear-driven-alternators.aspx But--------I suggest you pull the prop and just use the front alternator.
