68 gallons in a 9? Is that a typo? Ferry tank?https://www.flightaware.com/live/flight/N16GN/history/20260419/1355Z/KCXU/73XA
Your time window just barely missed me - I was barely off the ground coming out of KCXU with a load of 68 gallons of $4.75 100LL, can you believe that price? Then punched through the cold-front just southwest of Montgomery and straight shot home. After I cleared the weather (IFR 6000') ATC offered me direct destination - 803 nm from ACORI intersection. "Yes please".
It's not often we get to fly far enough in a straight line with our toys to see the curvature of the earth - but you can definitely see the great-circle route curvature on that one.
By the way - I landed with just over 2 hours still in the tanks.![]()
Yaquina Head Lighthouse? Beautiful place! One of my favorite places on the planet! Tide pools are an amazing place!I found some of the last $6.00 avgas in Oregon, then burned some of it cruising up and down the coast:

Tuckey Tanks - outboard wing leading edges have been converted to additional 16 gallons per side, 68 total. I can flight plan 1200nm with IFR reserves.68 gallons in a 9? Is that a typo? Ferry tank?

Wow, just WOWWe decided we needed a place to fly for a birthday celebration, so an up-and-back to Mt. Shasta was chosen. Louise had the -3 and I took the Val with a neighbor in the back seat shooting pictures…. There was an amazing cloud forming up right about at Shasta, and the landing at Weed for a quick break was….sporty! We skeedaddled back home before things got worse - but grabbed a few photos!View attachment 115530View attachment 115531View attachment 115532
