Today was Discover Aviation Day. The Vernon flying club ( CYVK) flew approximately 130 young potential aviators. We had 9 aircraft/ pilots. The weather was great and a lot of smiles both RV and others was evident today. A big shout out to all the volunteers who make days like this such a success.

Started ripping it apart for avionics, and LED lights all around.
Adding 2 G5s, GNX 375, GTR 205x, GFC 500, heated pitot, FlyLEDS landing lights, and Whelen LED nav-strobes. This is gonna be my life for the next several weeks.

In conjunction with the annual condition inspection just spent a couple weeks pulling the panel to rearrange some circuit breakers and the aux battery bus, install a Flight Data Systems GD-40 carbon monoxide detector and a flap position sensor. Happy to report it’s all back together this weekend and working again. The entire panel has quick disconnects so getting it in or out only takes about 30 minutes.

A couple years ago I Rebuilt my old rudder that had 0.016” skins and a few cracks. Did not paint it then so this past couple of weeks my Hangar mate help me get it painted back to original paint scheme. I don’t show all the steps but it was first painted white. The white burst was masked off and rest painted blue. Then everything was masked and gold was added. It had to be on and off the vertical tail several times to match up with the points on the vertical.
Got back in the air and Flew twice this weekend. Feels good to again fly with the sun behind me (and flies 5 knots faster😉)

Hei guys
My wife and I are on our yearly two weeks flying holiday. Because of the hot temperatures around the mediterranean sea (around 33°C/91F) we went north. One of the goals of many european flyers is to fly around north cape, the northern most point of european mainland. But my goal was the lofoten in Norway 🇳🇴 , just one hour short of north cape. A beautiful archipelago high up in the north. And Norway 🇳🇴 is spectacular anyway with its mountains and glaciers down to the sea. Although can be challenging weatherwise because all the weather from the atlantic sea will hit the norwegian coast. With some encouragement of Dan57 we dared to use a weather window and headed north. And it was worth it! The Lofoten are above the polar circle, so the sun never goes down these days. We hiked and enjoyed nature for three days before heading south and into Sweden 🇸🇪. Right now we are spending time in a tiny house on Gotland, an island in the baltic sea. Here some impressions.

I am always surprised how my photos of glacier flying in Alaska look just like flying in Norway. Just a different language down below. An RV is a magic carpet.

Yes true. I also sent a picture home and got one from a flying buddy from Switzerland and they nearly look identical 😂 just lakes instead of sea…
