Little Wing
(Wiring runs, and main spar reply.)
Aft mounted dual batteries here grounded locally. Power wires ran through mid longerons. Everything else thought the floor. All my spar pass throughs are full. Pitot & static under and across floor. Power wires can be seen on both sides at the transition from center to forward section.
Good luck!

GRT autopilot gain sanity check (8A)
…NelsonME58 reply
I’m hoping an RV-9A owner with an installed GRT A/P may be monitoring this thread. I’ve attached photos of my pitch servo installation and was hoping someone could help me determine if it is correct. The install was completed by a maintenance shop hired by the previous owner. I suspect the rod end bearing installation on the servo control arm may be attached to the wrong side resulting in the angled installation. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

“I have Cleveland 30-9 brakes on my -9A. The puck 0-ring is leaking and I which I'll be replacing. I'm going to try this bleeding procedure to reduce the brake bleeding aggravation. Here are the photos of my brake line installation. Does anyone know what size plug I can use between the blue 90 degree fitting and the brake line connection? I tried a couple of different plugs today an none of them worked.”

Quite an impressive array of bucking bars
…PaulvS I used an angled bucking bar, it is just a piece of structural steel that has been cut so that it will fit. It is the one on the top left in the picture.

Are you looking to hire an RV builder/owner for your company (because you’ll already have sort of an idea of their ability to focus on long term projects)? Consider posting that job opening in the VAF Job Board subforum. Currently unemployed (but have an RV project in the garage)? Post you’re looking for work here. It’s the one area where, by design, I give some leeway in regards to the ‘RV only’ rule.
Some examples of perfectly appropriate subject lines:
RV-8 Builder (wings) CPA in TX looking for work.
RV-7 Owner looking to hire IT specialist
Unemployed RV-6 Owner looking for part time retirement work.
RV-10 Builder looking to hire engineer (preferably RV builder/owner)
RVators helping RVators stay employed is what I’m going for.
Thanks if you can help a fellow RVator out.

Wiring runs, and main spar
I'm mapping out all the wiring runs, and am unsure that the four holes in the main spar get the job done. One will be for the aft battery cable, and maybe a few smaller ones with it. I have static, pitot, and AOA 1/4 tubing to run forward. There are two com antenna cables, plus one GPS, and one...

Last rivet
Tonight I installed the last rivet on my RV8. It is the forward most rivet on the nutplate for the screw through the retaining tab on the hinge pin on the bottom cowl. I'm thinking of requiring passengers to identify the last rivet for me before their first flight. That will be difficult...

If you are not bleeding, you are not trying hard enough…
My build buddy Tom Doran came over yesterday to help me rivet on the forward fuselage top skin. This a a real PITA as reaching the rivets with the bucking bar involved contortions and arms on sharp aluminum edges. But - it is done and I never again need to do it. I just don’t remember...

GRT autopilot gain sanity check (8A)
I had a long XC flight yesterday to fiddle with the autopilot. The builder had roll gain set near the default, 100%, which I found was ok in smooth air but exacerbated even the smallest amount of turbulence. Starting with the servo response test, I had to work roll gain down to 7%, and roll...

F-7106 Fwd Top Skin - riveting aft three rivets to side skin/longeron
How did you get a bucking bar on back of these rivets? Due to the canopy deck, there is a thin gap to get the bucking bar in there. Modify a bucking bar? Thx

Tire question on a RV14
Pretty sure I know the answer. I was swapping tires today and found a slash in the sidewall (don’t know how or when). I am getting good wear out of these - so bummer. Replace? If I replace the tire, should I replace the tube? Both were installed 6/22. Tires (AeroClassic 5.00-5 6 ply)...
