I know there are those who say it is not an aeroplane until it flies or even until Phase 1 is completed. I choose to ignore that view. It feels like an aircraft now.
Many people to thank which I will do after the first flight.”

RE: Archer VOR location (fore & aft) within the wingtip

Move it aft and do not run the strobe/nav/LL wires on it like shown in the install instructions. Why poke the RFI bear??
This location provides for ~100nm VOR reception, and LOC/GS far beyond practical ranges.
Side note, the antenna in the photo is homebrew. It sticks out further into the wingtip than the Archer.

Visited the Mothership...ish! Unfortunately, I arrived too late on Friday to get a tour and had to leave on Sunday.
Had the pleasure of hearing Van give a great presentation on the history of Van's, Experimental Aviation, and his journey at a conference this weekend for the Oregon Wing of the Civil Air Patrol in McMinnville, OR. I also had the chance to go on a VIP tour of the Spruce Goose at the Evergreen Aviation Museum.
We'd met prior (way back when I started my build, so it was good to share and catch up).
It was a fun weekend.

Engine power loss forces off-field landing: builder/maintainer error
The pilot in this story achieved perhaps a best-possible outcome, but the aircraft owner, builder, and maintainer chose poorly, to say the least. They are all one and the same person--namely me. Comes now the penitent, seeking the solace of public confession in the Chapel of VAF. On Saturday...

Archer VOR location (fore & aft) within the wingtip
I waited to get the fiberglass VXI wingtips from Aeroleds, to mount the Archer VOR antenna in the wingtip. I know how the wires are routed is critical and ALL of the wiring in the wings is shielded. I'm asking how far away from the LED's should I mount the Archer VOR? The Archer...

Looking for an ExpBus switch P/N
Hi All, After almost 24 years of service, the plastic rocker portion of the (red) avionics switch cracked. I removed the switch and determined it was manufactured by C&K. I was able to build a P/N for this unit using the internet literature, but have learnedthe part is obsolete. I have been...

NPT Fitting - Did I do this correctly?
I've watched the EAA Hints for Homebuilders video on NPT fittings but I still want to make sure I did my first NPT fitting correctly or not. I used Loctite 567. Here's how I put it on the fitting: Is that too much/too little sealant? Is it too close/too far away from the end of the fitting...
