Looking for an ExpBus switch P/N

Hi All,

After almost 24 years of service, the plastic rocker portion of the (red) avionics switch cracked. I removed the switch and determined it was manufactured by C&K. I was able to build a P/N for this unit using the internet literature, but have learnedthe part is obsolete. I have been unable to locate any residual stock. Has anyone been able to find this part or a drop-in replacement for this part (P/N CA22J73207PQ)? See photos, below.

Thanks,

Check with Stein. They may have kept one from an upgrade that would still function. Check Digikey and see if they have something similar.
That’s amazing you got that kind of service life out of that thing. Mine didn't last five years. You might start planning a replacement. I think you’re living on borrowed time.

Try Amazon searching for "12V rocker switch".

I have been using an EXPBus for 20+ years, so I was looking around "just in case".

Thanks. Checking with Stein is a good idea. I have searched Digikey, Newark, and Mouser. I have ordered a few potential replacements from Mouser. None are perfect matches, but I hope at least one is "close enough".

Some years ago, I purchased a used ExpBus from someone on this site. It turns out it is a more recent version than mine and has different switches that are not interchangeable. If my current unit really dies, I plan to swap it for the (newer) spare.

I mentioned somewhere that I would report back on my tests regarding switches from Amazon that MIGHT fit the ExpBuss II.

The large switches fit width-wise but will need a mm or two shaved off length-wise (height). The hole is a bit too tight for the existing switch as I had a very hard time removing it to check.

The smaller switches seem to fit just fine. Note that the right-most switch is unlit black. I could not find any unlit white. All of the other switches noted here are lighted.

Hi James,

Thanks for this update. Would you be able to post the P/N(s) for the smaller switches? Did you buy them from Amazon?

Dean

JD 2pcs 30A Power Switch. Amazon has all of them. The red master switch is a 4 pole instead of the 6 pole it came with. The extra 2 poles were not used in my set up.

Yes. "What he said." The lighted ones are what I ended up getting of the larger switch.

I see that this one:

JD 2pcs 30A 125V/250V AC Boat Rocker Switch ON/Off Switch 4Pins Toggle Switch with UL Certificate Waterproof switches(Red 4pis)

seems to be little shorter by just about the amount needed and is NOT LIGHTED.

These are the small ones with color (and lighted) that I got:

Twidec/6Pcs Rocker Switch 3 Pins 2 Position ON/Off AC 20A 125V 15A 250V SPST Yellow, Red and Green LED Light Illuminated Boat Rocker Switch Toggle KCD3-101N-YGR

And these are the black ones:

VEXUNGA 10pcs KCD3 Rocker Switch 2 Pin On Off SPST Boat Rocker Switch 20A 125V 15A 250V AC 2 Position Mini Black Rectangle Toggle Switches for Car Marine

Again, there are LOTS of options.

Speaking EXPBus 2+

Do any of you have documentation for the version with the GREEN switches?

They made some changes in that version as to where and how the switches are connected.
My documentation is for the version in my photos (primarily white switched).

THANKS!!
