Sat and Sun were spent in the part time side gig box on poles earning food, shelter and T-shirts. Windy, cold and OVC Sunday here anyway. I understand there was a game or something on TV ;^). Update on Cade….he’s flying his first real by golly trip in the flight levels as a contract SIC this coming Mon-Wed. I’m covering his sims (with pleasure). Feel good story for sure - local kid done good.
Hope you had a nice weekend and got to spend some time with your RV.

Alton Bay …Kosinski RV-6
Alton Bay Ice runway is perfect with some crusty snow on it. You have some traction. With glassy ice, your at the mercy of someone. I landed my C140 with a quartering headwind a few years ago. The plane kept weathervane into the wind once you slowed down. I'd have to stop, turn the plane, go for a bit, repeat. Wasn't easy. I was there on opening day a few weeks ago with my RV-6 with perfect conditions. But then I'm only 20 minute away

Simple and effective rudder gust lock for the -10??
Anyone using a simply designed rudder gust lock for the 10 besides the one from anti splat? That didn’t work for my configuration. Thx!

3D Printed Fuel Cap Opener a.k.a. things I’m learning.
Note: .STL file at bottom if you want to print it, but you can design your own just how you want it in like ten minutes. It's pretty easy to learn and do. You should! More fun playing with 3D design and printing - this time a fuel cap opener (which may break in half the first time used ()...

Inexperience almost hurt me
Embarrassing but possibly could help a new pilot. 3yrs ago I was on a cross country and landed early due to clouds and the ceiling sinking. Spent the night on the couch (pilot lounge) and when the manager showed up for work he stated the cloudy low ceiling was very thin and recommended I punch...

Our own Alton Bay in Michigan KTEW

CHASING AN OIL LEAK - RV12IS
After 210 hours on my RV12is (Rotax 912is) I have been chasing a pesty oil leak since day one. I use approximately 1 liter of oil between oil changes (50 hours) and have continued to notice oil in the “rear” of the engine compartment (mounts, scat tubes, water pump). After a recent oil change...

Tool for attaching flight control surfaces without swearing
Hey guys, I’m just at the point where I am attaching flight controls surfaces like the elevator and rudder to the HS and after ten minutes of cursing at my inability to insert the bolts into the rod end bearing I decided that I’d just try make a tool in onshape to do the job. It seems to work...
