Eggshell strength? No, but a Broken Canopy
We all know about the propensity of RV-8 canopies to develop a crack... those sometimes happen for obscure reasons, sometimes due to edge tension thanks to a rivet or a screw in a hole of too small a diameter, and/or due to the expansion/retraction of that large piece of acrylic plastic. My...

3D printed airplane parts
Was reading another thread and had a question. But I don’t want to send someone else’s thread off the rails. Do we have any 3D printing experts on the forum? How hard is it to print with the ULTEM filament? Is there a specific type of printer needed?

So:
Yes, there is a 3D printer expert on the forum, he's always listened rather than talked.
Yes, 3D printed parts are appropriate for aircraft
Yes, you can use 3D printed parts fire wall forward. Ive done it for over a decade.
And no, you shouldn't do it if you dont know what you are doing (just like anything)
Cherrymax difference
Ok CR3212 4-4. Looks like 2 different styles? Can someone explain the difference? In the second photo, are they fully pulled?

Moving Heavy Tools
The January/February 2026 issue of WoodenBoat, out now, contains a good article on "moving Heavy Tools," on page 58. One of the techniques describes a pneumatic lift that seems fairly simple. In fact, I think that even I could make one. It could lift an RV a few inches, if you had a suitable...

What did you do for this rivet on the aileron gap seal
Im working on the wings and installing the flap and aileron gap seals to the rear spar. I am not willing, at least right now, to try and buck the 4-5 rivet due to it basically being behind this stiffeners on the aileron inboard mount bracket stiffener. I am thinking I can just use a cherry max...

Section 11-02, Step 2
Hi Gang, are there any tips or techniques to get the AN3 bolt through rod end bearings? My fingers can't through the openings at the hinge openings to manipulate the bolt through the bearing. Thanks!

Show us the status of your 7/7A project!
SE2 I remember back when you were building your shop. Great to see the steady progress. A suggestion as I finish my 7, do everything you think you need to do in the tail cone before riveting on the top skin. Static air install and tubing run. Mount possibly for ELT. Wiring to rear light ...
