Cowl Clearance Conundrum
I know this isn't strictly a propeller question but this is the closest forum I could find. I'm attempting to adapt a cowl that was originally trimmed to fit an RV-7 with a Subaru engine and fixed-pitch prop to a newly installed O-360 with a constant-speed prop. (See here for background.) My...

Nose wheel brake out force keeps getting lower
On recent landings I encountered nose shimmy so I took the wheel fairings off and adjusted the brake out force to be ~26lbs (it was about 10lbs). I also made sure the Belleville washers were installed correctly. That worked for a small time but the shimmy reappeared after 5-10 landings. Lifted...

Update
Removing seized in tailspring.
When I purchased my partially completed RV8 it would not fit in the moving truck I showed up with. My original plan was to unbolt the tail spring and slide it out but it was seized so tightly in that we couldn’t remove it with the tools we had, so I opted to cut the tailspring so I could shut...

Plans / build manual display
What are you all planning to use in the shop for reviewing / displaying the plans / build manual? I'm pretty much 100% dependent on readers now, trying to decide what option is best. I have an old large ipad, thought I might use that and take an old appleTV and old TV set out there and airplay...

VAF Charity Cap: Help your charity and promote this site.
Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
