First: !!!!Thank you!!!! to the folks that help keep this site online by clicking on ‘Account Upgrades’ https://www.vansairforce.net/account/upgrades and choosing a level of yearly support. Doing this puts a badge next to your username.

Seconds: Unrelated, if you haven’t tried https://globe.airplanes.live/ you might enjoy giving it a try. Free. Type RV into the TYPE CODE field and press ENTER to see the RVs in the air. Help interpreting/changing the map display can be found at https://airplanes.live/map-help/. Use the pipe symbol ( | ) to view multiple types. Ex: E55P|C208|B350 will show all the Phenom 300s, Caravans and King Air 350s in the air. Type code help at https://www.icao.int/publications/DOC8643/Pages/Search.aspx. I have a window here at the house that looks up the inbound course of 18R at DFW and I leave a computer window with this site up so I can identify what the planes, and where they came from.

Go have fun <g>.

ShawnR RV-4 Status Update
Plane is back on its own legs. Engine is on. Even after installing the Vans fitting into the fuel pump, I had a conflict directly with the firewall. So had to modify it. But I am happy with the result.

Vapor Issues PIREP …Redbud
I had vapor issues. Here are pics of before and after. Added a heat shield and more insulation to fuel line. No more issues. Use 100ll

Thread locker needed on fuel line elbow? …-14
I'm on page 31-08 (fuselage fuel system) where the plans call for us to "fully tighten the AN924-6D nuts on the outboard elbow fittings". The elbow is shown below. Should we use thread locker on those nuts? The plans don't mention it and there is no mention of it in the Wiki but it seems like we wouldn't want that nut to come loose.

Circuit breaker angle bracket …-14
For those that have installed the Vans angle bracket (aka power module) with the Steinair circuit breaker plate did you have to modify the angle brackets? Can’t seem to get the vertical bus bar to fit. The one that ties all the horizontal bus bars together.

Tip-Up Side Latch Handle Spring
…how Stevea did it.
Below is what mine looks like. The clevis is from Ray Allen....same one used for the RV trim servos (http://www.rayallencompany.com). The Van's supplied wire is replaced with an AN3 bold shank (ie: cut the head off a long enough AN3 bolt, threaded end of the bolt shank goes into the clevis). The clevis pin, AN3 jam nut and washer are standard AN hardware. I might have had to replace the Van's supplied spring with one that had a 3/16 inner diameter (too long ago....don't remember  ).
