tail wheel spring WD409

hello, Im building an RV7 and having difficulty fitting the tail wheel spring attachment (WD409) to sit flush on F712 has anyone else had this problem?
I'm trying to fit the WD409 onto F712 with the 2 keeper rivets. I've drawn the position of 409 onto F712 as laid out in drawing 27.
When I position 409 onto F712 in that position i'ts 'held off' F712 by the weld. I've asked Vans support if its ok to increase the size of the cutout to clear the weld, but as yet I haven't had a reply.

I can't mount 409 lower down because of the edge distance of the top two bolts is compromised .
I would appreciate any advice, if anyone else had had this problem what did they do to resolve it?

Increase the size of the cut-out to clear the weld bead.

Increase the size of the cut-out to clear the weld bead.

Yep, increase the cut-out as required. You can also bevel the edge contacting the bead to help get clearance.
