Steps on an RV-6

I'm looking to get back into an RV after selling my last one about 2 years ago. There is a local RV-6 available that looks promising. My question is, are steps on an RV-6 common, or are there going to be problems with ground and obstacle clearance issues? They look to have been added at some point, probably long after the initial build. My last RV was a -7, no steps and really not needed, but I will admit that the older I get every advantage to making it easier to get in and out of is welcome.
I will add that it looks like stock tires and tailwheel and the actual steps are about 10 inches off the groud sitting 3 pt. in the hangar. Guidance please.

I have steps on my RV6 for 20 years and never a problem & sure makes it far more easier & safer to get on & off the wing. Especially for passengers.

I have steps on my RV-6, initially installed one on the passenger side for someone who needed it. But I liked it so much I later added the pilot side step. My slightly arthritic knees find it useful when stepping down from the wing.

However, I shortened each step several inches so the step is about half way between the ground and retracted flap trailing edge. This make the steps more functional and better aesthetically. The unmodified steps were too close to the ground.

I put steps on mine for my late elderly Mom.
