SB 16-03-28 blocks skin rivets on wing?

I've been thinking about this for a while, and Van's says to use two rivets on each side of the original hole.. but what do you all think? Would a cherry rivet fit here? If we install the 16-03-28 Aileron Hinge Bracket service bulletin the flanges on the part make it impossible to drive a rivet in the hole. I don't particularly love Van's idea which is just to put two new holes, one on each side. Would a blind rivet work? A cherrymax rivet? Something else?

I have a Cherry gauge but I have not drilled out the hole to cherry size yet and so the gauge won't fit into the hole to measure. I will certainly do that if we think there is sufficient room to get a cherry rivet into here.

There is almost exactly 5/16" of clearance between the Service Bulletin part's flange and the outside surface of the spar. It's tight!

On the lower skin I would see if you can install two of the MK-319 rivets in the original holes. You will have to upsize the hole (7/64) size 33/34 drill bit but not to a size 4.

It seems pulled rivets are what most people are using here.
You have a choice of the MK319BS or I used the CCC-32. Mainly as it is the cherry equivalent of the 319, and you don’t have to enlarge the hole.

I used MK319BS rivets. The tails hit the end of that doubler before they're pulled so it's helpful to relieve the ends of the flanges to make a little more room in there.

It's doable with solid rivets, if you trim the reinforcement flange at 45deg.

Bottom wing skin rivets

Anybody run into an clearance issue between the aileron hinge service bulletin angle and a rivet that attaches the bottom skin? Did I miss a step somewhere? What is the best way to overcome the interference?

Thank you! I figured this MUST have come up before but I couldn't find it searching. Odd that Vans would tell me to drill two holes on either side rather than just trimming the flange.
