RV-8A Sniffle Valve Tube Pictures?

Mine just dumps straight onto the cowling making a mess. I’ve been meaning to make a tube of some sort so it dumps past the cowl. Any pictures from 8A builders for ideas? The 8 is easy because you don’t have the nose gear in the way.

Add a 90 degree fitting, then the sniffle valve. Some tubing to exit the back of the cowl. Run the tubing to clear the nose gear.

The photo shows two tubes. One for the sniffle valve the other for the fuel pump diaphragm leak tube.

Here is mine. As you can see it is pretty close to the exhaust pipe. I can try a rubber line to AL tubing going to the back but I’m not sure how long it will handle the heat.

Carl where did you get that elbow fitting? Or what type is it? I’m assuming the same sniffle I have will screw on it?

I’m not sure. It might have been at the aviation department at Lowes. Here is an ACS one that may work. The thread size is the same for the sump as the sniffle valve.
Check the tread size.

This is my version of the above sniffle valves. I’m going to monitor to make sure the tube doesn’t fatigue crack or loosen on the engine mount. I ground tested it with zero results (good thing). Hopefully it continues being a boring run of tubing!

ACS 45 brass elbow 1/8 NPT
3/8 Rubber Fuel/Oil Line
3/8 Aluminum tubing
2x hose clamps
2 Adel clamps to match engine mount and tube.

Mine is Airflow valve. It has a check valve. Closed under vacuum. Open when shut down. Soft aluminum line to the firewall then out a small hole.
