Thanks Vlad. I'm struggling with the PCU to the IO-390 mounting the most.. The legacy Hartzell governor was attached to the faceplate but I'm not sure the PCU is attached the same way. Is this the case with yours? If so maybe you could attach a pic. That always helps.I had a similar, although not exactly the same, governor on my IO 540.
I purchased my PCU 5000X directly from the manufacturer, Jihostroj a.s. in Europe, and had it shipped to me. Installation was fairly straightforward.
When ordering, make sure you select the correct control arm direction so that your propeller cable moves and controls the governor in the proper direction. Also, ask the manufacturer to preset the governor for your engine’s maximum propeller RPM.
Other than that, the installation was quite simple. I have been very happy with my PCU 5000.
My IO390, 210 hp version (RV-14A) from the beginning used a PCU5000X (stock Vans cowling and WW300 prop) and no issues now 800+ hrs. Just one more data point. Purchased under a VAF “group buy” in the 2017 time frame. Thanks Vlad. I'm struggling with the PCU to the IO-390 mounting the most.. I have the 14 governor bracket with the same throw cable as vans uses. Governor mounted in the same location as the 14. No issues with travel. All -14 stuff except for the airframe which doesn’t change anything in that regard.I talked to Blake to see if any RV-14's has done the swap out after the build to see how they handled the 100 degrees of control arm arc versus the 120 degrees of arc on the PCU 5000X, attaching the bracket from the legacy Hartzell config, etc. Unfortunately he didn't have an RV-14 spec sheet on hand. I'll get one to him after I'm done. I'm just trying to get it right the first time. My plane has been done for a month now so I'm trying to gather back up as soon as I can but with better equipment.
@Bart Did you complete this with Blake and if so, are you willing to share your spec sheet? I'm in Phase 1 and pretty sure my Hartzell governor failed. I will reach out Blake also.I talked to Blake to see if any RV-14's has done the swap out after the build to see how they handled the 100 degrees of control arm arc versus the 120 degrees of arc on the PCU 5000X, attaching the bracket from the legacy Hartzell config, etc. Unfortunately he didn't have an RV-14 spec sheet on hand. yes I did complete. If you give Monique at PCU a call I made sure she kept the sheet available for everyone calling about their -14. She was excellent with making sure I had the right fitting. 224-676-6941 I'm still grappling with my bracket but I should have it working tomorrow.@Bart Did you complete this with Blake and if so, are you willing to share your spec sheet? My fitment seems off with the bracket. I see your cable is mounted on the inside of the arm. That might be just what I need to make the alignment work.I have the 14 governor bracket with the same throw cable as vans uses. Governor mounted in the same location as the 14.
