I just took delivery of a -4, can someone tell me if this is a fuel filter? If so, is this usually a lycoming product? O360. Thanks, Ricky

Why don't you just cut that zip tie off, remove the heat shield/insulation, and look?

BTW, those wires look...dodgy.
The cowl is already back on or I would’ve. That wire is for an added cowl flap and I agree. I’ll tidied it up next time I have it off.

Whatever it is, (probably an automotive racing type filter) it needs to be supported by something other than a length of tubing, thats a recipe for a cracked or broken line, not something you want to happen to a fuel line. Anytime a hard line is used it should be rigidly supported at both ends.

Thanks for the advice. Ill definitely address that and support it properly. Thanks for the info.

The line on the right is hose. Can't tell what the line on the left is but likely hose. If both are hoses nothing there to crack or break.

If It is a hose on the left, the bend radius exceeds the minimum bend radius of that hose. I am almost certain it’s a hard line covered with firesleeve. The filter (or whatever) appears to be unsupported, if this is the case the whole assembly would not naturally assume the position it is in, if it were a hose.

I never have and never will use a hard line forward of firewall.

I would hope at least if tubing it is stainless. I hate to think what the rest of that airplane looks like.
I’m guessing it’s a hose with a 90 degree hose fitting on that end and the fire sleeve is covering up where the hose hits the fitting
