Hall Current Sensor Alternative

I have a Key100 on the bus feed and it works every bit as well as the shunt off the alternator output.
It is awkward to wire, and awkward to mount, so I was looking at other things for the new build.
This device comes ready with a plastic shell and mount, but I haven't worked out the physical wiring connections yet. It has 5 pins, but only three are the ones we typically use; the other two can be ignored.
I think I'll put a current sensor inside the fuselage on the 8AWG wire coming into the fuselage and skip putting a shunt out on the firewall from the alternator.

LEM HO 50-S

It says it is 50A, but that is AC RMS, it is +- 100 for DC current with 16mV/A sensitivity similar to the Key100.

Something to think about.... data sheet attached.

I’ve installed an alternative

Current Sensor

But haven’t got to use it yet. It simplifies some things (installation), is cheap, and wires the same as the other active sensors. Switching back to a HE type would be quick and easy.

An option to consider,is all.

I use this HE sensor with my MGL system. You just tie-wrap it to the wire. It has a zero and gain set point you adjust. Seems to work fine for 3 years now.

I've used this HO sensor. It works great.
