So this happened today - the FIRST (but not last….) installation of the wings on the F1. We had a few neighbors stop in to help handle things, had a good safety briefing (“We don't want anyone getting pinched - call STOP if you see an issue!”), then stabbed both wings and installed a few drift pins to hold them in place. I now have a list titled “Things to do while wings are temporarily installed” that is twenty items long (for a start) and will certainly grow. I have another list already growing with “things to do once the wings come off again” - because they have to in order to do a few things like bottom skin nutplates.
Now I can see the answers to a few questions that I’ve had in the back of my mind (wing root ventilation, fuel lines, flap pushrod holes….) and a while lot of fun things to do!
