Cam inspection without pulling jugs

Neither the tapper face nor the cam lobe looks acceptable to install in an engine expecting it to reach TBO. These are sliding surfaces and do need lubricant film, so a rough surface finish will not support that film thick enough to prevent the asperities from grinding into dust.

How many total hours are supposed to be on this engine (these parts) per the paperwork? One might say all is good if the engine had 2200 hrs on it, then replace the parts.

These parts are now ornaments, they aren't going in any engine ever. I'm just posting photos to give data points.

These parts had 800hrs on them over a period of 24 years. The aircraft spent about half that time in Portugal and the rest in southern UK, so not exactly Arizona.
