Anyone found a good replacement for the Ray Allen trim/rudder position indicator? Every airplane (4 different ones) that I have owned that has had the Ray Allen indicators for the elevator and/or rudder trim. Every single one of them has either one or several bad indicator lights. My recently purchased RV-8, the rudder trim indicator was intermittent until yesterdays flight where it went out completely. Occasionally if I give it a slight tad, it will work. Bad internal connection I assume. Totally dead now. I have looked at them in the past and if I recall, they are potted so no way of fixing without ruining it.
Plane just turned over 200TT and another plane I had several years ago was under 100TT when it's indicators quit. Replacements are around $200.
I am wondering if anyone here has found a suitable replacement that has better long term reliability.
