[I am not at this point yet, just looking ahead at things before I close structures for the last time]

Page 35-06 describes attaching the aileron pushrod. I think the specified screw may be too long:

It runs out of thread before fully seating in the countersunk area.

Anyone else have an aileron assembled to the point where they can check theirs? Hoping it is a bad hardware callout. I don’t think I’ve assembled anything wrong, as everything clecoes up just fine in final assembly (skins, etc.)

First thing is to verify the screw is what is called out in the KAI. It definitely looks to be one or two sizes too long. I am assuming there will be a few thousandths of pinch when it tightens as well. The only other option would be to shim the nut plate back some.

Funny, I just measured it and came back to post what I found.

The spec on the KAI is MS24694S69, which according to google should be 1 23/32” long.
The screw labeled as such in my parts bin is 1 27/32” long. So, likely the wrong part.

It looks about 1/4" too long. So you're saying inventory means measure every screw, rivet, nut and bolt....:unsure::unsure: Guess I need to dig out that old AN fastener gauge.

Unfortunately I think that may be true.
I have also had parts with wrong stickers, etc. Trust but verify…

I also have experienced parts labeled incorrectly. One of the more troublesome problems is parts that are labeled “correctly” for the part the plans call for but when you try to fit that correctly labeled part, it doesn’t fit. The reason? It turns out to be the same shape as that part for the other wing. Yes, trust but verify, but it becomes difficult to verify without getting to the point where you need to install the part before you are able to verify the error.

Is there a form or format for reporting errata digitally to Vans so they can more easily keep up with these? This is an excellent documentation example!
Thanks G's! (Gals & Guys;))
