Check the actual dimensions of your filter to the KN specs. The filters shrink dramatically over time and get loose in the FAB. Poor sealing and FAB wear result. These filters in our service environment are definitely not “lifetime” filters.

Thanks for the info. What a clean setup have. How much time do you have on your eng/airframe?Looks like the standard K&N set up I have in mine. The earlier versions like yours and what I have keep the filter suspended above the airbox bottom surface. I think newer ones "sandwich" the filter against a plate bonded to the airbox. My original filter hasn't shown any sign of shrinking, but I've heard of that happening. I dont have a handy picture close up.
