I’m understanding that the vent in the baffle is used for carbureted engines only?

Actually, it is used for cabin heat. But hey, not needed if you don’t have cabin heat.

Carb heat comes off a heat muff installed on an exhaust pipe.

Sourcing carb. heat from way at the back of the baffling will require a frustrating to execute and very (long) expensive piece of 2" scat hose.

That vent in the baffle intake ramp (#2 cylinder, left side) feeds both carb heat and cabin heat. Short run to carb heat works very well. Longer run to cabin heat valve on firewall works adequately. This heat muff is on the stock Vans (not Vetterman) crossover exhaust system.
