Hi everyone,

I wanted to introduce a new product we’re now offering at Fairings-etc that I think many RV builders and owners will find genuinely useful.

The ACF-400 Quick Access Fuel Filter System—developed in collaboration with Flyboy Accessories—is designed to make fuel filter inspection and servicing fast, simple, and accessible.

Instead of digging into the aircraft to access your fuel filter, the ACF-400 allows external access from the bottom of the aircraft, making it possible to remove and inspect the filter in under a minute.

See it @ SnF 2026 (Fairings-etc. booth 93 in building C)

Key Features

• External fuel filter access (no interior teardown)
• Filter removal in under a minute
• Integrated locking mechanism to prevent loosening
• Visual preflight verification of locking pin engagement
• Mistake-proof cartridge (cannot install upside down)
• Simplifies inspection if contamination is suspected

Installation Notes

  • Designed for 3/8” fuel lines (AN6 flare)
  • Requires .040” material minimum (template can be used as a doubler)
  • Includes installation template for straightforward install

Price: $499 + shipping

Is it required to drain the filter as part of the pre-flight inspection, in addition to draining the tank sumps?

Could this filter be installed inside the actual fuel tank, replacing the existing fuel drain?

1) Yes, I would add this to you pre-flight checklist.

2) As this filter is inline, going to your engine, I would not replace the existing fuel drains with it.

If you were to crash-land hard enough to remove the landing gear, that cap + drain would get sheared off and create a guaranteed fuel leak. Of course, you'd have other issues as well, but why add to potential fuel leaks?

This would be easily solved by adding a spacer so that all of the filter + drain is above the lower fuselage skin. Would be more aerodynamic too. You'd need a big socket to remove the bottom nut instead of channellock pliers, but so what. Have them custom-made and supply with the filter.

This is a very inviting convenience at a glance, but if compromised to effect failure it is potentially a substantial (pressurized) leak.

This was my thought when first seeing this - it would be nice to have it raised out of the slipstream... Love the idea though.

I have wing root filters installed on the RV-14. I think this is a good alternate solution for wing root filters as well. that is why I thought about having this unit installed inside the fuel tank. But I guess installing on the wing root cover fairing is also a good convenient serviceability option.

Congrats for the idea of this new product. I will consider installing 2 of these on my wing roots on my next annual. (easier to drain 2 at wing root than 1 at mid airplane belly).

Man, these were a huge hit at SnF & sold out quick!

I have more in stock and ready to ship!
