I remember back when you were building your shop. Great to see the steady progress.
A suggestion as I finish my 7, do everything you think you need to do in the tail cone before riveting on the top skin. Static air install and tubing run. Mount possibly for ELT. Wiring to rear light , magnetometer, pathway for eventual wires etc. Maybe the pitch servo control bracket as well. Antenna doublers etc. It is a pain crawling back there to accomplish all those tasks.
Thinking well ahead now will payoff down the road.

It’s about a year since my last update on here. I’ve come a long way since just getting into my hangar. Panel is in and tested(works great), engine was received and installed, lights are awesome and bright! Currently battling with the cowling and next is plenum & front windshield.

Quick update. Moved to airport about 18 months ago. Wings installed and Dynon ACM being wired. Engine coming in a few months. This is what year six looks like for me.

You're already 99% with 99% to go!
I fabricated two hinged panels from the instrument to sub panel. It's really convenient for that ACM.

I would suggest that before you hang the engine, get finished with all the holes through the firewall.

My project did not have cabin heat and they mounted the voltage regulator where the cabin heat was supposed to be.

I have removed, installed, and removed again , way too many things on the firewall. Make a list and prioritise the gotta do first items. You are going to fit some things, but your list should reduce the number of things that erroneously get final installed.

Any suggestions? I’m in the don’t know that you don’t know phase.

Battery box tip
Do yourself a favor and install nut plates. Had to remove mine a couple times. Laying under the panel gets old. I also cut away the forward side of the box and reattached it with hinges. It's 1/4" deeper. Makes battery removal much easier. Excess space is filled with a piece of baffle material.

After months of consideration on painting the forward mid fuselage I decided to do it while it’s still open and easily accessible (knowing I’m going to get dings with all the work I have left).

Glad I did it. This was one of those times in the build, although not hard to do, it felt like a big milestone 😁

Wow! That is beautiful.

Big milestone for my project this weekend, finally “broke the seal” on the engine I bought before a price increase back in 2022. IMG_4112.jpegIMG_4111.jpeg
