Generator stopped charging

backcountry

Well Known Member
Rotex 912 ULS the generator stopped charging. Then I turned off the master switch and turned it back on and the generator came back on operating normally.
The regulator is the B&C unit.
Has anyone experienced this and what might be causing it?

Check your belt tension first. I had a similar problem. When the alternator demands a high load the belt was slipping.

It is possible your voltage regulator sensed an overboltage condition and tripped the alternator. Cycling the master or field switch will reset the voltage regulator.

Check the wire attachment to VR for any looseness, I removed the wire block and attach the blade connectors individually, I pinch the connectors just a tad to ensure a tight fit.
