Labeling F-14107 control cable bracket (EXP119 throttle/prop/mixture control mount)

Looking at the control cable bracket for my EXP119 RV-14, it doesn't appear that there is enough room above each control to properly place labels for each control. I can't picture placing the labels below each control but maybe that works. I would like to see pics of how others have done their labeling here.

I still don't understand why labeling basic color coded controls is required. Makes about as much sense as having the control sticks, or yoke, labeled as to what they do and which direction to move them. Maybe something that is required just because it's always been required? And if it is so important, why doesn't Spruce or other suppliers offer these controls already marked, or labels for them? Is this a rule that is overlooked by some inspectors and enforced by others? The Cozy MKIV we built did not have them marked for inspection and passed, as did my RV-10. I guess I need to put them on the RV-9A prior to inspection.

To be honest, I don't know. I know that Vic emphasizes labeling and I don't know if I've ever flown a production plane that had unlabeled standard power controls. I'm going to have to look into that.

Only thing labeled on the inside of my airplane is the switches. The DAR made me label the fuel caps during the inspection. I think those may have "fell off" at some point.

I see that McFarlane will label their cable knobs. I may just go that route since I plan to order mine from them.

Standard Brother P-touch TZe laminated tapes. Amazingly durable - it even works for external fuel cap type/capacity and flaps "No Step" ones.

Best practice often insisted upon by inspectors is to label absolutely every control both with its name and how it operates.

Given that § 23.781 since amdt 23-33 identifies the knob shape as unique to the function, it certainly seems redundant identification for the throttle, prop and mixture controls.

Mine are labeled on the end of the knob with a big "T" for throttle, a big "M" for mixture. I have a fixed pitch so no "P" for me. Very neat and simple.
