Wow!! I am amazed how well all the parts and holes line up. I have received lots of new Kits from Vans since 1995,,,,, I have seen improvements throughout the years.
This RV15 is a giant leap in quality.. instructions, and overall everything. I lobbied for it. Now it’s here. I love it. Thank you

Such low effort gatekeeping around here.
Sometimes it feels as if the RV-12 is the redheaded step-child on this forum. It appears many pilots here have inferior self images and (like the big expensive car guy) need to enhance their manhood.

It's the exact same thing. It's funny, I get a kick out of it.

As for the RV-15, I'm living out this humor right now. Van's is obviously aware of this so they had to throw these guys a bone and make it easy for them to put flush rivets on the leading edge of the wings. It's genius that they figured out a simple trick to chip away at the insecurity. This comes at a cost of course. Now I get to install several dozen extra nut plates and there is a bunch of unnecessary inspection panels like warts on the bottom of the wing, but if that's what it takes to make the airplane successful I can live with it.

The B-24 is #5,000, from Ford's Willow Run plant. This is among the first documented uses of blind rivets in aircraft, just one of many contributions that empowered the industrial might that won the war. It has a nose wheel too.

Aircraft grade blind rivets are not pop rivets. The former is an engineered joint, the latter is a Lowes special. Many, if not most aircraft use the former sometimes extensively. This is good.

The Zenith and Sonex builders are all grinning over this discussion of pulled rivets....and getting their kits done way quicker....

Seriously though - we are searching for an RV-15 builder near us, our zip code is 27376, Seven Lakes, NC, near Pinehurst. Primary airfields here are KSOP and BQ1. Contact me through aerosouth.net, besten Dank!

WOW!! I sure would like to be stoked too. Ordered my kit on day 1 at OSH - eight months ago! Still missing aileron parts, flap parts and wing parts. The backorder situation seems totally out of control at Vans. Ship dates don't seem to have any meaning, and at this point the best I can get from Vans is, "hopefully sometime in April". This is my sixth Vans build and I've lived through corroded kits, laser cut parts and a bankruptcy with them. I would think they would be anxious to avoid another self-induced fiasco, but it seems like that's where they are headed with their RV-15 parts production and delivery. Hopefully I'm wrong, but this is a really shaky start. Vans is the company we all want to love, but sometimes they really make it hard on us builders. Fortunately, once you finally get them, the kits are good and the airplanes are great. Looking forward to being stoked!
