Wing Cradle Specs

I have a cradle I used for my Rocket. It was used for a -8 before that. It’s all yours if you’d like to take the scenic drive north. Otherwise it will end up in my stove this winter…

+1 on the Mouser's RV-10 cradle. Shorten by at least a foot for the 14 wings.

Yes, I forgot about that. The plans call for 10' 2x4, I just used 8' 2x4 and it worked out well.

Hey Gang, thanks for all the replies (and invitation to the Mogollon Rim) but I decided to store the wings in a spare room (delivered right thru the window) until their time.

I used the crate my qb wings came in and made it into a cradle. Put some swiveling wheels on the bottom, a post on the end with some straps to posts on the outside of the crate bottom and walla it works like a champ. Where the root is attached for shipping only needed some felt to make it a bit easier on the spar.

Tony Bingelis' classic design worked well for my RV14 build. Gussets made from Van's shipping crates.

I would advise against using old carpet, I've seen it break over time. I also would not transport your wings on the highway in this type of cradle.

Harbor Freight has 4" wide x 30' cargo strap for only $15. One strap is enough to do both ends.

Using wider strips of carpeting might also help protect against ripping by spreading the weight over a larger area.
