Which iPad (M4) Ram mount

I currently have an IPad Pro 11” gen 4 (M2 processor) mounted on a Ram ball mount. I use the EZ-Roller cradle to hold the IPad.

I would like to upgrade to the new M4 Pro 11” iPad but it seems like there is no EZ-Roller cradle for the M4. Has anyone found a good Ram cradle for the latest iPad Pro 11”?

Great. That is the same cradle that I have!

I guess it’s time to spend some money.😀

You will love it, much brighter than previous versions and actually readable in the cockpit. If you use foreflight it will dim after an interval but brighten up when the screen is touched. Only recommendation is to mount in front of a vent as it does get hot in sunlight and throw the temperature error.

Gen 2 -> M4 is a noticeable performance upgrade, and the M4 chip allows it to utilize Apple Intelligence. That feature is, so far, a much over-hyped instance of Apple vaporware but someday might be important.

I've never had an iPad Pro overheat, but I mount the thing on a panel suction cup on the passenger side and aim the right eyeball vent at it.

I had used the roller cradle with my past iPad Pro and found It was so tight it bend the iPad a little and I was not comfortable with it. I had also been really wanting a solution that would be integral to a case that I could keep on for general use. I found the Pivot Case, https://pivotcase.com/ and love it. It is a heavy duty case with a built in stand as well as a proprietary locking slide system that slides into one of their mounts that you can pair with a Ram arm and mount. When you are done flying, you just unclip the iPad and go. Not cheap, but handles both the mounting and the general protection. This appears to be the one for your iPad: https://pivotcase.com/products/a32a
And here is the ball mount adapter if your currently have a ram ball and arm: https://pivotcase.com/products/ppk-to-1-ram-adapter

There are also lots of other mounting options for the same system.

Corrected my original post my iPad is Gen 4 with the M2 processor. I was getting the processor and generation mixed up.

What I like about the EZ roller cradle is its minimalist nature. I have it mounted on the left side, right about where the slider roll bar mounts. It partially blocks the view of my G5 which is in the far left corner of the panel. I’ve tried other cradles and they block even more of my view of the G5.

I don’t use ForeFlight a lot while flying except for Approach Plates but I do use it every flight for Checklists.

I have the same Pro 11" M4 (model # MVW23LL/A) and find the below comment on ACS true, it's such a tight fit it scares me to use it.
Anyone know if you can heat up this type of material and bend it a little?

Ram EZ Roller Part# 11-17593
MFR Model# RAM-HOL-AP23U

Does not work with the latest version of the Ipad Pro 11po. The latest version (M4) is 249.7 mm height while all the previous version (4th, 3rd, 2nd and original) were all 247.6 mm.

My newer iPad Pro 11 slides into that mount with no problem. I did grind down the hook on the securing tab a bit to make it easier to insert/release the device...couple of minutes with a grinder. I have no concerns with bending the iPad...doesn't appear to be an issue.

I love the iPad Pro M4 for Foreflight. The RAM EZ-Rollr is the best mount I've found but I had to modify it to accept the slightly longer M4 version. I didn't want to grind down the roller clip on the top, so I took off the bottom grips and made some new ones out of sheet aluminum and angle stock. Works great and only took about an hour to fabricate. Am working on a more finished version with plasti-dipped grips. Had used a RAM claw-type grip in the past but it loves to press the side buttons when you least want it to.

I have a 9th generation iPad in an ez-roller mounted with screws to the right side of my panel.
I set it up so there is very little space behind the locking tab so when I put the iPad into the ez-roller I just press and it goes in quite easily. Removing it is just as easy as there isn’t much space for the tab to move towards the panel.
Pic attached - sorry it doesn’t show the whole iPad. I can take and post more pics if desired.
