We had taken it off as we taxied in at idle. She wears a sleeve and mutt muffs when we fly.Obligatory noting of the lack of ear protection...
I occasionally fly with one of our three golden retrievers. I always put her in a thunder shirt, which she seems to like a lot and appears to be very calming for flying or fireworks, but I haven't found ear muffs to be of much value. We have 3 pairs of Woof ear things and Thunder Shirts, mainly for fireworks. The Thunder Shirts are great, but pretty doubtful about the value of the doggy ear pro. I showed them to our vet and he thought they were of more value in making the doggy owner feel better than the dog. My golden actually likes the muffs in that she will willingly stick her head into them, but generally has them off in short order.
My dog, unfortunately gone for 3 years now, would let me insert foam ear plugs without issue. They stayed in the entire flight and I had to remove them after. He wouldn't keep Mutt Muffs on for any length of time but was great with the ear plugs. He loved to fly.
David, that's a good-looking boy - I'm sure you miss him dearly.
It is hard to describe how much.
