We need to stop making the same mistakes

Bob, by the time you cobble together a different AOA system you may find that you would have been better off just buying the Dynon pitot and installing it.

I have!

It's great practice.

As have I. Including spins. Yes, great practice - and great fun!

Really, though, it doesn't or shouldn't matter if the airspeed indicator is covered - the airplane tells you everything you need to know if you are listening to it (wind noise, control feel).

No doubt, but I believe -- from previous threads -- that retrofitting a completed aircraft with a Dynon PT is a bear.

Bob,

With the -7, I mounted the pt on one the access covers, that was relatively easy but running the 2 lines can be challenge. Instead of using aluminum tubing, silicone tubing was used. It is very flexible and durable. It came from U.S. Plastics.

I found the Dynon AOA to be excellent once it was calibrated. The Dynon ASI indicated 2 knots less than the Vans ASI. The silicone tubing works just as well as aluminum.
