… getting this weekend’s thread started. Hope you’re having a really nice one.

At least I did something...
Played with the two cockpit video cameras for familiarization. Haven't yet downloaded the video to see what I got
Found the packets of lens cleaner
Experimented with including airways in flight plans on the GTN650
Got the engine up to temperature on the ground -- still no medical
And... met another CFII who can babysit me till I get my medical back

Introduced a non-pilot friend to the world of RV flying with a quick hop over the mountain, a coastal sightseeing flight, and lunch at Catalina.

Speaking of the island, I was surprised to see the Goodyear blimp doing multiple practice instrument approaches to AVX. I've been to the airport dozens of time and had no idea they did that. The airport manager said it was pretty common and that they'd had as many as 3 blimps out there at the same time.

I also learned that YouTube can display 360 video without any conversion that users can pan around manually.

Years ago i bought a 0360 Baffling kit from Rick Grey. Well its finally in. Came up with my own variation of Cylinder 2,3,4 cooling mods after viewing many great ideas on this site. Now to attach the Baffling silicon material.

The Baffling proved to be even more or an equal tedious to the Windscreen, Cowl, or Canopy

Nice installation! Interested in the front cylinder removable air dams in pictures 3620 and 3621............

Thank you Michael. Got the idea from Mr. Dye. It was really simple. Instead of riveting the air dams to the main brackets, rivet the back side of the dam flush to a new .032 angle, then screw that on top of the main bracket as a removable unit. Add nutplates to the underside of the main baffle ramps. You can see them in 3623. Had to get a little creative down there since my #2 mod was added as well. Don't look too close at a couple of those rivets ugh. Such a tight difficult small area, but not structural so a few i left. This may be overkill, but I wanted the option of removing and adjusting height etc after I figured out what my cooling is doing

Yay!

Finally flew solo again in GOGO after a 15 month hiatus waiting to get my Canadian Cat3 medical approved again. (Fellow Canucks feel free to PM me for details)

That’s cool! Which camera are you using?

That one is an Insta360 v4. Most people mount the pole below the wing; I put it on top because a) I like that perspective a little better, and b) I think it's more visible when parked, meaning people (aka: me) are less likely to run into it.

I've also got an Ace Pro 2 which I typically mount on the tailwheel spring looking forward. That view allow for overlaying the flight data recreation generated by FlySto from my G3X data. It comes out looking like this:

How covered with oil was the camera after that flight?

There's definitely a bit of oil on it. I'd describe it as a fine mist, quite easy to wipe off. But it doesn't seem to affect the video quality, which surprises me because it can record in 8k and even when zoomed in I don't see any quality degradation. You'd think it would get milky or hazy or something. My iPhone sure does...

The camera is rated for use underwater, so I think the innards are relatively safe from contamination. The lens has a replaceable cover over it.
