Starting this weekend’s ‘What did you do this weekend with your RV?’ thread a bit early, as I drove out to 52F for a quick hop just now (Friday a.m.). We had storms come through around 0300 and it blew out the haze, washed the pollen off everything and lowered the temps to the high 60’s.

RVs were all aflutter at 52F this morning <grin>.

Hope you have a nice weekend, and looking forward to seeing what some of you did.

All bridled up and ready for next time...... ;^)

It was a really good flying weekend. First, I flew up to Packer Airport in Radnor, Ohio where Rich Packer plus his family and friends were giving rides to some of his students from Butler Tech ( near Cincinnati). Rich runs the aviation department at the school. His family has two Stearmans and another airport tenant has another, so there were three Stearmans giving rides - and Rich gave me my first ride in his Stearman.
Then on Monday, we (Cincy River Rats) flew with the Cincinnati Warbirds over 8 different Memorial Day parade celebrations around the Cincinnati area (5 RV’s, 3 Warbirds). It was a very bumpy ride on wing for a long time, but it was sunny and clear.

I tried to upload a short video of one of our formation over flights taken from the ground, but apparently videos are not an option.

I don’t fly much these days, but sure do enjoy the crisp smooth air. Had to make a run from our place on Cabin Creek Landing 97MT to look at a property near our old house at 8U8.
I decided an early morning Dawn Patrol was in order. Beautiful air over Flathead lake, past the still snow covered Mission Mtns. Aurora seemed as happy as I, to be racing along showing 185ktas. Been a couple years since I had seen Canyon Ferry lake as we descended into Townsend. Gas was $5.05 so topped it of while waiting for my daughter to pick me up. Property looked good so maybe we will move back. The return trip was equally smooth and fast.

Life is Good. Enjoy it!

Hey Dan….. always great to see your posts! So you’re going to sell that beautiful cabin hideout in the mountains and move back? I remember watching the building process years ago……a very nice job!

Man, yesterday was a beautiful day for aviating in N Texas! I did a day trip from Houston up to Aero Country to spend the day with my mom; on the way home in the evening I puttered up around Lake Ray Roberts and Valley View, then back to Houston. The weather was clear, cool, light breeze… spectacular!

Both me and the plane are down for maintenance so I have to settle for sitting in the backyard having coffee with Bubba. I am under the downwind for 35 at PLU so I get to be around airplanes...from a slight distance.

Idaho is famous for huge lava flows, of which your second picture is one HUGE lava flow! VERY volcanically active at one point and there is evidence of it everywhere. Craters of the Moon National Monument is one VERY COOL example of previous activities of all kinds one can crawl around on!

A quick down-and-back to Big Bear Lake this weekend in Tsamsiyu…tried not to scare the almost-fledged Eaglets that are making news by staying away from Fawnskin with the big predator…. Nice flight home Saturday morning at 14.5K just a couple miles east of Mt. Whitney - the Owen’s Valley “Cathedral” never disappoints….

I couldn't help myself either. Learned from Brian about cheap gas in Montana I flew there.

to Townsend and back - 1.jpeg

Everything is the same as it was when I visited 13 years ago.

Pretty surroundings British Columbia style.

The cheap gas was all gone by the time I arrived home. Over six hours on the hobbs including playing with speed boats at Flaming Gorge. Life is good thanks Brian for the tip :)

Quick day trip from Lyons Landing, GA (5GA2) to Salisbury, NC (RUQ) to visit newly wed daughter and her husband along with our son and his new fiance’….oh, also the puppies 🐶
Nice 1.5 hr flight vs 5 hr drive. Gotta love it!!! 🚀

Thanks, we love our place but realize we need to be closer to the kids & grandkids.

Btw… not Dan, I’m Brian. No worries, just don’t call me late for supper. 😁

We had stunning weather yesterday and invited a good friend to go with me. The mission was to fly out to a farm about 200 nm north and inland of us to go and have a good cup of coffee. Also to help the farm owner Chris to find some of his sheep that has escaped into very mountainous terrain. We had a smooth flight and enjoyed the silence of the Karoo. Later we went up to look for the sheep and were lucky to find them with the second pass. You can see the runway in the picture with the pin and also the mountain where the sheep was hiding. What a nice RV day.IMG_4863.jpegIMG_4865.jpegIMG_4867.jpeg87CA6767-274B-48F8-B048-C5B97937B4D0.jpegIMG_4870.jpegIMG_4876.jpegIMG_4877.jpegIMG_4901.jpeg

Fuel pump test flight went well, lots of work and side stuff last 3 weeks.
Also got to have dinner with some fellow RV’ers and reconnect a bit, so Great the friends you meet here……..
Ready for a 2 day Vacay with my Boys. Lil’ dude managed the boxes and radio and the airplane minus first couple and last couple minutes. Even with the Booster seat he still can barely see over the panel, weird working on Instrument before Private. Can’t wait till he can reach the rudder pedals.

Vlad, the runway at 8U8 gets closed tomorrow 6/2-8/15 to get dug up and resurfaced. They are adding taxiway and new hangar spots for leases

No pics.

We host on Airbnb, currently have a young guy starting to work with the American Red Cross doing disaster response stuff over 21 counties. Took him for his first GA flight yesterday to get the lay of the land. I think he was excited as evidenced by soaked armpits even before takeoff. 1.9 hr flight.
