I flew from the Bay Area down to the Channel Islands to take an aerial tour. What a beautiful flight! I love flying in California - at one point in the flight, at 7500' over the Salinas Valley, I could see the Pacific Ocean, the Coastal Ranges, the farmland in the Salinas Valley, the Diablo Mountains, the huge Central Valley and its farmland on the other side, and way off in the distance, the snow on the Sierra Nevada, around the King's Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.
Once I got feet wet, I dropped down and toured the Islands (W289 and W412 both cold per LA Center). The beach on the West side of San Miguel Island had a couple of hundred sea lions on it.
Headed in to Santa Barbara airport for gas, then back to San Carlos. Great day!
First time wearing the parachute and the floatation collar together, not too bad.
