What did you do with your RV this weekend?

Simulator Side Sortie Saturday and LIFR Sunday here in N.TX. - swing and a miss for the RV this weekend.😢 I hope it’s better where you RVate. Looking forward to some PIREPs of construction and flights.

I worked on my restore RV-3 this week and removed the existing vinyl coated wire that was put in the right wing by the original builder. It had a radio antenna wire with it and had electrical tape spaced at each rib. Only one blood letting in the process.
Got it all out and threaded in two pull strings, an extra just in case for later.

Tyler had a prop-strike incident with his RV-7 over the summer and had to leave it tied down at our coastal Oregon airport for several months while he made arrangements to get it back to his home field. A few days ago I go to the airport and see this poor guy out in the rain working to get the control surfaces off. I'm like, "that's no good" so I pulled my plane out of the hangar and brought his inside. A few days with the help of his friends and local airport bums got the plane apart, loaded into a truck, and headed out for the 4 hour drive home. He has his work cut out for him but is surprisingly upbeat and looking forward to getting a new paint job, overhauled engine, and new or repaired prop.

Opened up the 7A for a pre-buy inspection. This one is scheduled to sell this week, leaving me with just a -6 and -8. We have a Yak 52 sitting in Atlanta that will fill this hole.

Finished another set of light-weight carbon wheel fairings, this time for an RV-8 owner with 5.00-5 wheels. Today the air door installation begins, a three-day process, then we ship. Current order backlog of similar sets for 5.00-5 and 6.00-6 wheels on RVs & Glastar/Sportsman, standing now at about two months. We can ship 4-5 sets per month, working on increasing this. We also have some new PE parts about to be announced in our December newsletter. Stay tuned. KM

This weekend was AOPA's South Island Christmas Lunch Fly-in. These are generally very low-key affairs... bring your own lunch and something to sit on... turn up at 11 am... couple of hours to chat and catch up on the news, then head home. Last year it was on a strip in the middle of nowhere, this year we were invited to a strip also in the middle of nowhere but were relocated by trailer to the owners house about half a mile up the hill.

In all there were 30 aircraft and 2 helicopters turned up. The day was warm and sunny but there was just this niggly wind that made the flying lumpy. We took the long way there (30 minutes) and the direct route home (20 minutes). Overall the event was well subscribed and it was great to catch up with everyone from around the lower South. I was pleased to see the lovely local RV-14 arrive, but ours were the only two RV's on the paddock.

I felt the need to bling up the aircraft with some christmas spirit:
