45 min flight vs 3 hour drive. Was anticipating 150lbs of meat from 2 hogs, ended up being closer to 260lbs. Was only able to haul about 200lbs of it due to the bulk, 100lbs in the baggage and 100lbs in a sleeping bag in the passenger seat.

I always wanted to fly my RV-4 to work at Tinker AFB, but never got around to jumping through all those hoops for the landing rights. How difficult was that?
Extremely easy to get a Civil Aircraft Landing Permit. Just fill out the DD Form 2400, 2401 & 2402 and send it into the E-mail address listed on the forms. Should only take a day or two.

In the eyes of the law, VH KJS is now an aeroplane. Special Certificate of Airworthiness issued by CASA AP Norm Edmunds on 13 April 2025 - 21 years 3 months and 15 days after the first deburring of the rudder ribs started.
I know there are those who say it is not an aeroplane until it flies or even until Phase 1 is completed. I choose to ignore that view. It feels like an aircraft now.

Wrapping up a long drawn out annual with a bunch of time items and updates, like having the AFP fuel injection overhauled and the cooler cleaned, replace the 2006 DIY LED landing lights with FlyLED units, and so on.
One update idea borrowed from Scott McDaniels was a new smooth bore oil cooler duct...a section of 600-6 tube, which happens to be 4" ID. Needed a new glass entry for alignment. Scott says his is holding up fine, and I'll report in due course.
