...getting this weekend's thread started. I'm at the airport Saturday 0830 enjoying light showers for a couple hours. About to start putting the plane back together after the oil change, but stopped in the parking lot long enough to see if anybody was going to fly (while catching up on the website a little bit). Hope you are enjoying a rain-free nice RV weekend.
OK, let's go turn some screws while we have a couple hours <g>.

CANCER UPDATE:
Long rough ride to get to this point. 14 months since Aurora and I had flown, but today we kicked that cancer a$$. In August I got my medical restored, but I still was weak didn’t feel sharp enough mentally until a few weeks ago. In July, The doctors and others said, it would probably take me a year after treatment, to be able to fly…Ugh. I dropped my insurance to not-in-motion coverage. In the mean time I started the Condition Inspection, finished that last week. The last couple months I put some weight back on, got stronger and feeling almost normal. Woke up this morning and knew today, I’m Flying!

30 minute shakedown flight to remove the rust.

Planned for an hour but started raining, then snow.

Back to 97MT, I made a Logbook entry: 12/8/24… mediocre landing, RVGrin restored.

Life is good, Enjoy it!
Life is better at 200mph. 😎

This might be the best post I’ve read all year. Outstanding news! Thank you for the update, sir!

CONGRATULATIONS!! 🎉🎇🎆 Great to hear you got your medical restored! That can be an arduous, frustrating 😡 endeavor! And, perhaps more importantly: Welcome to the SURVIVORS Club!! I wear my yellow LIVESTRONG band with pride! It will be 20 years for me December 20! 🎉And seeing Montana at 200mph is, indeed, a great way to celebrate!! Here's to many YEARS of tearing up The Big Sky in your Magic Carpet! Life IS good! Every day is a new beginning! Enjoy The Ride! PS: you are looking great!!

Wow, great to hear sir! I can totally relate from my own four year slog thru stage four bravo mCRPC. The fight that I’m currently in swinging a knockout blow with EXP treatments.
Despite oncologists gloomy outlooks, I know Gods already healed me! Congrats to you, have to come up for a ride with you sometime as I’ve sold my airplanes!!
Merry Christmas!
Smokey

Heck yeah!!!! So happy for you Brian.
Thanks for sharing. It inserted a little happy dance into a lot of people's day.

When you have a crummy weather window, send me that headset for a little refresh. Word is that a lot has changed since I personally made that one.

No icing in the clouds in December calls for some currency approaches on the way to replace a battery in the lake house vehicle. 2 Otto approaches 1 within 100’ of Mins followed by 2 missed and 1 hand flown to cancel below the OVC knocking some rust off.
Copilot was getting pretty bored at home anyway and needed to get away……

Brian and I have an interesting history. I think I'm only the third pilot to have flown Aurora and I can tell you that she is an absolutely beautiful airplane. Brian and Kris have stared down the monster and then come back stronger than ever. Such great people and great friends. Just does my heart good to see that smile on Brian's face again!

Thanks Rob. You were a great caretaker of Aurora when you had her, and I was the lucky one to be able to buy it back.

Wow, that sounds great. I love my QC1 headset. Wish it was compatible with my off road intercom too.

I think my headset is in pretty good shape, but think I had to trim out the moisture blocking piece. Might be good to have you at least look it over. I’ll send you a message. Thanks

I'm pretty sure there's an adaptor (or maybe you have to build one) to allow you to do that. I looked into it years ago for an offroad car because at the time aviation headsets were cheaper lol.

Already researched it. Aviation headsets use a electret mic, whereas the off-road I headsets have a bias voltage mic supplied. I could have converted it, but not able to swap back and forth easily.
