...getting this weekend's thread started. No RV for me this weekend, as I'm working extra paper routes while people will use me during the Christmas season travel rush. We shared the ramp for a bit with a beautiful RV-7A in south Texas...

...and yesterday got the once every few months view from FL450 of the Moab area in Utah in Phenom land. New wallpaper for the laptop <g>. Grateful to get to see stuff like that 3-4 times a year when the tumblers align. The 1 hour Uber to get to the 2-hr airline flight home, 1 hour Uber ride to my car, then another 1 hour drive home wasn't nearly as fun ). It buys a little gas for the RV and helps keep the lights on here, so I'll take it!!!

RV-10 flew over the house W to E Sunday 1015 while I was letting the neighbor's doggo out to potty (dogsitting). (10 at 2000, airliner at 3000)

Hoping to visit the RV this coming week for a hop, and hope you had/are having a wonderful RV weekend also.

Thursday I left Fredericksburg to Denver, my son and his family left Dallas to Denver. Door to door I beat him in my RV6A even with a 15 kt. headwind. I came back today and had a little tailwind, great airplane.

Flew 25 hrs in my 8 this week. Went to Big Bend, Houston, and Vail from dallas exec. Also took my parents and siblings for their first GA flights. Really loving the capability of the 8 and it has been a really fun plane to fly.

Flew round trip Goodyear (KGYR) - Kingman (KIGM) and back today for a Christmas gift run to family. Had a nice push coming home. No Leg fairings or wheel pants yet.

Reassembling the plane after paint. That is a LOT of work! I was fully aware of what it would take - took my time, no sense in getting in a hurry. But still, a LOT of work.

'Before' and 'after' pics here ...............

Now I'm having a radio issue - another post on that later for input/advice.

Need to find a weather window to get it back home to the hangar and get the painted wheel pants back on.

Due to weather delays, we flew this year's Backcountry Santa mission last Monday. I flew to Kayenta AZ then Page AZ for fuel then back home to Ogden UT.

If anyone is interested next year's mission will be on Thursday, December 11 with backup dates of Monday, December 15 and Wednesday, December 17. The sign up page is already live: https://www.backcountrysanta.org/fly-with-us.

Flying out of Tillamook on the Oregon Coast has its winter challenges. But, I pay that price to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and even in winter, you get times like these.

Sunset over the Pacifc

This pic flying away from the sunset illustrates why flying over water in certain conditions has its dangers. Where is that horizon?

We’ve had a stretch of crummy WX and it's forecast to continue until the New Year. But today (Monday) was flyable so flew a scenic tour from Arlington (KAWO) to Hoquiam (KHQM), Westport (14S), Astoria (KAST), Seaside (56S) and return.

A little headwind while flying down the Pacific coast slowed the southerly progress, but the trip back was quick!

On the way back I saw this Boomer and its entourage returning to the Bangor sub base in time for Christmas. They're heading south down the Hood Canal, with the Hood Canal Bridge in the background.

Note the entrance to the sub base at the upper right in the picture, with the security boom open:

There's a good chance that's the USS Alabama and my son's on board. Always nice to see them make it home.
