WDYDWYRTW? (10/5-6/24)

Yesterday was my second trip to North Carolina. Myself and two other RV-10 owners hauled somewhere between 1500, to 1800 pounds of goods for hurricane Helene relief. It’s amazing how much you can stuff into The RV-10. Had to deal with some dicey rain and low clouds in the mountains, but we got the mission accomplished and made it back safe.

Fall flying is the best! I was able to sneak a quick flight before the reserve drill weekend.

Looking forward to seeing the edited stuff - thanks, Larry!

As Larry mentioned, we made 2 trips to KGEV with RV-10s stuffed full - staff at my local hospital donated more stuff than we could carry, and did so on <24h notice. The rest is going down by truck/trailer.
Jayson (@Amadeus ) also flew his -12 up from KLEX and took a load. Here are some more pics...

I flew my bride on an outer banks NC loop that featured 2500 agl look see at the Rodanthe area where the ocean is eating up homes on a regular basis.

Early Saturday morning, and even for the San Francisco Bay Area, it was really absolutely stunning out! Even the big boys departing SFO were commenting on how gorgeous out it was. Anyway, did (2) RNAV practice approaches, missed, holds, etc and ended up for a great breakfast at the "Pilot Light" in Half Moon Bay. Swarms of kids around and since my plane was the only one on the ramp, there was a gaggle of ship rats marauding around the ol 7a! Flight back north with a view of the homestead Muir Beach (top center, on the coast), and San Francisco, plus that great breakfast.

Flew from Sydney (YSBK) to Adelaide (YGWA) for the annual and for installation of a GTN-650Xi.

Clipped the southern edge of a SIGMET for SEV TURB that was supposed to last about 20 minutes on the way out of Sydney, so I only got MOD TURB, but it didn't let up for the whole flight. 1300km of being kicked in the pants, with a headwind of between 40 and 55 knots just to make sure I had to endure it for as long as possible.

I usually do the trip in 4.5 hours with one fuel stop. This time it took 5.6 hours and I made two stops just to have a break. It was a relief to arrive and tie it down. It's surprisingly fatiguing to fly when it's this rough. Glad it's over :)
