Troubleshooting Control Stick Trim Wiring

I'm New Here
Hello!

I just set up and tested the electrical system in my RV-10 - it is controlled through my VP-X Pro. When configuring the trim systems (pitch/roll), I was able to control the servos through my computer/VP-X Configurator, but when I tested the HAT switch on the stick, nothing happened.

Any ideas on what could be the culprit?

Below is the wiring diagram and a picture of how the wires are connected.

Many thanks to any with experience and knowledge in this area!

I had issues with the tiny molex plug in my RV14A. Not sure if your installation has one or not. Steinair recommended removing it and replacing it with dsubs in shrink tube. No problems since. YMMV.

If all your trim functions on the hat are not working- the common cultures looks like a ground wire. Either the ground at the connector or the ground at the vpx plug. Check those first.

I agree with Toolmanmike, ground would seem to be the common point of failure. With the power OFF, check for continuity with an ohmmeter at those connections and see if the trim switch is actually making a connection when you move it. If that's good, then move on downstream of that to see where it's getting (or not getting) voltage with a voltmeter. Troubleshooting is just isolating one section of a system at a time and seeing where the glitch is.

Hey Megan, I can't be sure but looking at your photo, the green hat switch ground wire is connected to the terminal block but not to ground. If so, that wuld explain it.

Thank you everyone! It was indeed the grounds - when I put it together, I think I foolishly thought that what I did was the ground...but now, it's grounded to the airframe, and ops checks good!

And thank you for the welcome...long time listener, first time caller :)
