Transporting an RV-14 QB fuse and QB wings in a truck

Does anyone have plans to construct transportation cradles for an RV-14 QB fuse and QB wings, plus miscellaneous kit items in a closed truck?
We are picking up a project and need to transport it safely.
My main thought is to place the canopy under the fuselage cradle (2’ clearance).
Should I hang the wings on the walls, place them flat (if able), or build a two wing stand?
i believe we will rent a 26’ closed moving truck. We plan on constructing with 2x4’s. Using ratchet straps and maybe folded carpeting as cushions, or slings.
I appreciate any and all suggestions.

A decade and a half ago I picked up my RV-10 QB at Vans. They recommended a specific rental truck - pretty sure it was a 26’ U-Haul (check with Vans). Wings were tied to the walls. Fuselage tied to the middle of the floor, with lots of stuff bubble wrapped and placed inside the fuselage.I cannot recall how the plexiglass was packed. No cradles, lots of rope and (U-Haul rented) blankets. A call to Vans shipping department might get you some written guidance.

Thank you, Bob. That's great advice. We will give them a shout and buy a large roll of bubble wrap and duct tape, to be sure.

I transported my 9a model several times on a 5x10 trailer. It was in QB state. I put the wings in on foam pads on the bottom, built a platform above them and put the fuselage on top of the platform. Most of the extra parts fit inside the fuselage and I put the canopy in the back of my Explorer. It was tight and much easier on the next move with a car hauler trailer that was 18' long. I will look for some pictures. No damage from Oregon to Colorado, then to Idaho.

You will want a wing cradle anyway for your final fitting out of the wings. I'd build one of these and use it for transportation.

We were successful in transporting the RV-14 kit over 300 miles this week! Our success was largely due to a great loading team, wheel dollies, lots of bubble wrap, numerous cargo straps, and 60 moving blankets. We wrapped the loose parts with bubble wrap, then layered the flat parts with moving blankets, then bagged and boxed the little items. The two long crates fit forward in the truck on each side. We bolted the QB wings into the rack, and secured it between the two boxes (nice fit, btw). The partially constructed horizontal stabilizer was strapped to one of the wall rails for safe transport. The QB fuselage fit very well between the two wheel well humps on an engine shipping crate. We added the rest of the items, strapped everything down and drove carefully. I-94 in southern Wisconsin is pretty rough for about two hours. There was no speed I could find that relived the fore-aft resonance which may be attributed to the 26' truck wheelbase. A great success and big thanks to Chris and Morgan!

The sharp eye may notice the hole in the flap box. Yes, we dropped the box from up on high which knocked over a stool and punched through the box and flap. Lesson? Don’t store spare parts above 10’ unless you have a forklift. Does anyone have a spare RV-14 flap?

I just finished moving an RV8 project 1400 miles in a 20’ U-Haul last week. I built the Mouser wing sling and screwed it to the sides of the van. I put the fuselage on a mattress and strapped it to the other side. I duct taped the canopy to the floor to keep it from sliding around. The other pieces were wrapped in moving blanket and secured around the van.
