Torque value for MS21042-5?

I installed my gear leg mounts and there is one AN5 bolt with a MS21042-5 nut. I check section 5, page 20 - Nut and Bolt Torques and see that there are values in the table for MS21042-3 and MS21042-4 nuts but not for -5's. I searched the goog and there was quite a range.

Anybody know what the Vans standard value is?

Thanks

AC43.13-1B table 7-1 doesn’t list the MS21042 specifically, but the torques for MS20365 will work.

The torques shown in the spec are for qualifying the nuts, not for general use. You probably want the recommended torque for AN365 but of course, like with AN365, you need to add the running torque to that.

Thanks. All interesting information. Most specs end with “check with the manufacturer for the specific application”. I will do that and report back.

Vans Support replies:

Above a -4 it reverts to the standard value as the nut drag torque difference becomes insignificant.

The first two bolts used in my rv 10 emp kit are not listed on the torque table, why did vans not just list the required torque in the planes like most do?
